Care Groups

We call our small groups Care Groups to highlight their purpose: to gather, to care for one another, and to live in relationship with others.

We also meet:

  • to study Scripture,
  • to build community,
  • to be accountable to one another, and
  • to remind ourselves that being part of a faith family means more than attending Sunday services.

The person who loves their dream of community will destroy community, but the person who loves those around them will create community. – Dietrich Bonhoeffer

The ultimate purpose of Care Groups is to grow as disciples of Christ. The purpose statement of our Care Groups identifies four key elements of growth, easily remembered by the letters that start their names:

  • G – Gather
  • R – Refresh
  • O – Outreach
  • W – Worship

Gather – We gather regularly in Care Groups to deepen relationships, to practice mutual accountability, and to enlarge our knowledge of God and our understanding of who we are in Christ.

Refresh – Care Groups serve as a source of encouragement. They are a well of support and affirmation. This is the driving force behind the term Care Groups, as we are called to mutually care for and support one another.

Outreach – As believers we are called to live missionally in all aspects of life, and Care Groups nurture missional living. Care Group members serve alongside one another, ready to serve locally and to support global Kingdom expansion.

Worship – God reveals himself through worship and so we come together as Care Groups to worship. This can happen through prayer, Bible study, sharing, and music. Ultimately, our coming together is an act of worship. Life lived as a community of Christian brothers and sisters is glorifying to God.
